Building meaningful friendships as an adult in San Francisco isn’t always easy. In November 2023, I was a recent college graduate and a newcomer to San Francisco. My friends had moved to different cities, my schedule no longer aligned with teammates I used to dance with, and many of the spaces where connection once happened naturally had changed.

I started looking for new ways to build community, especially post-pandemic. San Francisco is full of incredible organizations, events, and gatherings happening every day, but discovering them all felt fragmented and overwhelming. I kept thinking: there has to be a better way to bring people together.

That idea became SF Social Club—a “community of communities.” What started as a simple effort to connect people and highlight local events quickly grew into something much bigger: a network of curious, welcoming, and authentic people who care about building real connection in the city.

My story is just one of many. The pandemic reshaped how we socialize, and many of us are still rebuilding our sense of community. But there’s also an exciting opportunity: to meet new people, discover shared interests, and cultivate experiences where everyone feels they belong.
